Water is an issue in Kathmandu and India. In Kathmandu the wells run dry frequently, which is the case at St. Devi’s Academy. One of the attractions of Kalimpong, in the hill country of Northeast India, is water. But now, even in Kalimpong there is no water. It has not rained for 6 – 7 months. Tea shops and restaurants have closed do to lack of water. Lorrie (trucks) drivers take their ancient vehicles into the valley where they fill up plastic tanks with water. They take this valuable commodity and sell it to residents and businesses in Kalimpong. The demand is so great that the drivers cannot keep up with it.

Relli is a small hamlet with only 48 homes (families) on this side of the bridge. It is located in a valley and fortunately water is not only plentiful, supplied from mountain springs, it is clean and free of chemicals. Even with the drought the water at the LOT Home is still plentiful. Praise the Lord!
