In a box of supplies for Malawi I packed a bottle of bubbles with a large wand. After dipping the wand in the liquid and waving it gently in the air many bubbles appeared, like magic, small and large bubbles. The children at Happy Hearts had never seen anything like it! At first they were mesmerized then a curious little boy decided to chase a bubble and suddenly there was loud laughter, jumping and sprinting as all the children popped bubbles. Something so simple brought such delight!
Later I tossed two balls into the room where the children were playing. The balls, when bounced, light up!! Lively interaction followed with boisterous shouts and tons of fun! It brings much satisfaction to see our children running, playing and laughing. Simply being children! Prior to Happy Hearts and our Healthy Start Meal Program, the children where lethargic; they didn’t seem to have the energy to move. So you see, when we observe the children engaged in vigorous activity and obviously having fun, it makes us smile too! ☺
