Sometimes we can look to a child as an example. A 6 year old girl, Ansley, gave us a little blue purse to give to one of the children who live at St. Devi’s Academy. Inside the purse was a children’s book, a piece of candy, a photo of Ansley with her sisters, and a small toy. Hanging on the purse handle was a tiny ‘big-eyed’ stuffed animal. The gift was not purchased but thoughtfully gathered from Ansley’s own toys, gently used but like new to a disadvantaged child. Even a second-hand gift can seem like treasure to a girl who has never owned a toy.
