Small quakes ranging from 4.0-4.5 still shake Kathmandu though they are not as frequent. The government has banned the construction of cinderblock or concrete building at present and they have ordered that new buildings cannot exceed 2 stories.   Devi says, “As you know, due to the earthquake people are so much scared. They want a safer place so if the earthquake comes again the children can run out immediately to safety.” In response to the fear and to insure safety for all our children (day students and the ones who live there) we are building outdoor, temporary ‘light’ classrooms, as the locals call them.  The rebuilding of the compound walls has halted for the time being and all efforts are concentrated on the new classrooms.
