Remember the big blue boxes with all the important items for the TWAM project? Well, in London the ticket agent told me it was only tagged to Johannesburg, South Africa. I asked if she was sure. “Yes”, she replied, “I can see it right here on the computer screen.” The last thing I wanted to do was pick up those enormous, heavy boxes and recheck them!

After an 11 hour flight from London to Johannesburg I went to baggage claim and waited until all bags had come through on the conveyor belt. No boxes. I went to oversized bags. No boxes there either. At the lost luggage counter the gentleman looked at his computer and could see that my boxes had not been on my flight. “Where are they?” I asked. He didn’t know their location as the computer showed ‘no movement’. Oh brother! Not this again…

I was waiting in the immigration line at the Blantyre, Malawi airport. The line was slow. As I was standing there shifting my weight from one foot to the other, I could see the luggage conveyor belt. There were piles of suitcases next to it yet I thought I could see a small patch of blue, the same blue as my boxes! I craned my neck so I could see the baggage area better. Yes, sure enough my 2 boxes were over there!

My bags arrived and it’s a mystery! There was no baggage claim tag on the boxes showing the routing. The baggage tag had only one airport listed on it – Blantyre, Malawi. The tag didn’t show where it originated or what stops it had along the way, yet it was labeled ‘Rush’. An interesting fact is this. For the first time ever, I put a large note on the top of each box. Written on them was this: Final Destination. Then I had written the name of my hotel along with the address, phone number and my name. Why did I label it like that? God must have given me the idea. I believe the boxes might have been lost forever if they had not been labeled as they were. The Lord indeed works in mysterious ways!!
