No Internet in developing countries is standard but when there is no internet at my office, well, I find it frustrating and unacceptable…
Earlier this month Devi wrote from Nepal – “At present Nepal is going through a lot of problems. Nepal’s constitution was declared (They haven’t had a constitution for at least 2 years) and it says Nepal is a federal and secular state. India tried to interfere with Nepal’s internal affairs and just 2 days before declaring the constitution in the parliament the Indian Prime Minister sent his special envoy to Nepal. The envoy tried to convince the Nepali Ministers not to accept the constitution but they did not listen. India is so upset because their Prime Minister wanted Nepal to draft the constitution the way they wanted it and for it to be in favor of Indians.
When Nepal didn’t adhere to their mandate they immediately closed all the border points between Nepal and India and are not allowing any vehicles to enter Nepal. For weeks now, all vehicles and trucks carrying food supplies, petrol and medicine are stopped on the India side of the border.
Now there is a great tension between India and Nepal and anti-India sentiment in Nepal. Nepal is telling the world that the Indian Prime Minister is violating the law and purposely creating tension and trouble to land-locked Nepal. Now there is a shortage of petrol, food and many other things that normally come from India.
Now, some weeks later, the situation has worsened and there is no improvement. It’s all due to politics. India wants to be the boss of Nepal and put in leaders who favor them and Nepali leaders do not want to bow down to them.
Please pray for us. Everything is very scarce and very costly.”
