Update from St. Devi’s Academy: “Greetings in the sweet name of our Lord Jesus. Our problems are still not settled. It appears it will take a long time to solve the problems. There is still a shortage of all important supplies. Some Indians, before coming into Nepal, filled their fuel tanks full (when in India) in their own private vehicles and are selling it for Rs 500 on the black market, which is illegal. The normal price is Rs 107 per liter. You can imagine that with no fuel it is very hard to travel and move around. It is even difficult to get firewood to cook with because of fuel shortage. As you know, propane (for cooking) is impossible now. We don’t know how long we have to suffer this hardship. The price of things is hiked up, and even if you have money you cannot get things at the market. You see, India wants to take the southern region of Nepal – the terai, the plains area. The people from the plains look like Indian Biharis and the political leaders from the plains are supported by India. India is making them strike and create other problems.

The Nepal government has begun talking with China trying to negotiate an opening of other routes at the Nepal/China border so they can bring fuel and other necessary things in. For a long time the Indian Oil Corporation has had a monopoly. They don’t give us enough fuel and they do as they like. Nepal has to find other options. According to international law a road cannot be blocked for land-locked countries, if things need to be brought from an outside country. But here India is playing big games and tricks!

We are praying to God that He will always watch and protect us and that there will be no shortages for our children. We believe God will bless us so we can run this home without difficulties. We are now praying that we can get enough funds to run and support this place. I know it is not an easy task to get money but I believe and have faith in God. He will open the doors so we can continue to do His mission.”
