“There are lots of problems in Nepal now. The Nepal government is trying to buy gas from China but the political parties supported by India have been opposing this idea. The situation at the southern border is the worst. People in Kathmandu do not have food to eat or cooking gas to cook with. With all of this going on, Nepal has elected their first woman president!!

The media and government is saying that Nepal is now a secular state (previously a Hindu state) and that people have the right to practice their religion of choice but in reality that is not true. There have been rumors that the political parties supported by India want to bring religion and caste issues to the frontline. If this happens Nepal will be in an even worse situation.

We have a saying that “Nepal is cursed by Sati” (an old mostly outdated tradition where a living wife is burned along with her dead husband at the cremation if he died before her.) I think this is really true, because nothing good is happening in Nepal. Things were looking the best ever in our history but all of a sudden we had an earthquake, and now this! The rest of the world is rising, moving forward, and we are pushed back to the Stone Age. I really hope this will get better soon.”
