This morning I read an article about Bono, the lead singer of the band, U2.  On February 2, 2006 he was the keynote speaker for the National Prayer Breakfast.  Bono said, “It’s time to stop asking God to bless what you’re doing. Get involved with what God is doing, because it’s already blessed.”  He shared a passage from the Bible that he knew from memory: “Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” Isaiah 58:8. Bono went on to tell the audience that this seemed to be the best deal going: do the things God cares about and He’s got your back.

At TWAM we are involved with work that we know for sure God cares about! We take care of His children – the ones that no one else seems to care about except Him.  We have the privilege and opportunity to step in and be God’s hands here on this earth.  We have the lovely fortune of being an integral part in changing lives!

In Belarus we have two ‘home orphanages’.  In one of these homes outside of the city of Minsk, live two beautiful girls, Angelina and Nastya.  They are not biological sisters but both of them were abandoned at the hospital days after their birth.  Their mothers simply walked out of the hospital door leaving their newborn daughters behind.  Angelina is very creative; she draws, writes poetry and even writes stories. Nastya, who is a year younger, has completed the 5th grade. She excels in sports, has won many competitions within her school and on a regional level.  These precious girls have an unusual family because it is comprised of children that God directed to our care, but it is a very strong united family.  The home is filled with love, devotion, loyalty and the Holy Spirit. What different lives these girls would have if they had been sent to a government orphanage. Praise God for his goodness!
